The iStor Management Team has over 50 years of experience in storage, networking, massive parallel processing and ASIC design.  This team has previous management experience at Maxtor, Emulex, Vertex and CMD.

Frank C. Huang, Co-Founder and CEO

Frank C. HuangFrank has devoted over 20 years in the development of networking and internetworking products since 1984. His engineering design experiences includes Ethernet NIC, Local/Remote Bridge, Ethernet/ IP Switch, Router, Terminal and Printer Servers, and ATM adapter for Retix, Emulex, SMC, Vertex Networks and Mitel.

Before co-founding iStor, Frank was founder and EVP of privately held Vertex Networks, which specialized in ASIC and system OEM solutions for highly scalable IP/Gigabit Ethernet switches. Vertex was acquired by Mitel Corpation in August of 2000. In the 5-year history of Vertex Networks, Frank had provided technical leadership, strategic planning, and contributions in multiple facets of responsibility for building the company’s business and its packet switching technology from ground zero. Under his leadership, Frank and his R&D team have 27 patents granted or pending by USPTO.

Frank holds an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Southern California, and a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from National Chiao Tung University.

Simon C. Huang, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer

Simon C. HuangSimon is a co-founder of iStor Networks and is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in data storage systems, SCSI and Fiber Channel RAID, network attached storage, and ATA ASIC.

Prior to iStor Networks, Simon co-founded CMD Technology, Inc in 1987. As CEO, he was able to lead the company throughout 50 consecutive profitable quarters. CMD had several significant achievements, such as being recognized as the leading-edge storage controller vendor for VAX computers and clusters; pioneering the world’s first 5-1/4” SCSI-to-SCSI disk array controller for any system platform; as well as envisioning the Pentium PCI-EIDE market opportunity and getting design wins in all the top 20 world class OEM customers with shipments in excess of twenty million units of ASICs. CMD was acquired by Silicon Image in June of 2001.  Further, Simon held key positions at AST Research, Emulex and General Automation.

Lauded for his entrepreneurial contributions, Simon was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from 1991 to 1993, and has been recognized for his business leadership in Inc. Magazine as well in The Orange County Business Journal.  Simon holds an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University at Columbus, Ohio, and a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University.
